Texas Sues Sam Altman Over ChatGPT, Meta Muse Links Exposed Private Chats in Public DNS, OpenAI Builds Fake Internet for Model Training After Security Incidents + 7 More

OpenAI is cutting its most advanced models off from the live internet during training, after a string of security incidents during development that the company has not detailed, describing the resulting risks as significant. The models are now being trained in a curated, controlled environment instead of on the open web.

Meta's Muse chat app had a sharing feature that exposed thousands of conversations in public DNS records, then was re-enabled shortly after. In the same stretch, Meta paused new terms for news publishers after they noticed the fine print still let Meta scrape their sites. Together, it's a pattern of Meta's AI products shipping just ahead of the privacy and rights questions attached to them. Meanwhile, Google rewrote its privacy policy to allow Gmail, Drive, and Photos data to be used for targeted advertising when processed through AI features.

The owners of Elvis Presley's music catalog are suing Anthropic, alleging Claude was trained on 274 songs without permission, while Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton filed a lawsuit against OpenAI and Sam Altman personally, alleging harms from ChatGPT, including claims tied to user suicides.

On the product side, Microsoft's AI chief Mustafa Suleyman claims a new diagnostic tool outperforms doctors by up to four times on hard medical cases, though outside researchers say the gains come from the underlying AI models, not Microsoft's additions. Block released Dessa, an AI model trained only on human conversation that sounds unnervingly like a real person texting. Canva shipped Craft, an in-house image model that plans composition before generating. Google is pushing Gemini 4 across Android Auto, ChromeOS, and a three dimensional periodic table tool, with more said to be coming.

Microsoft also reported that China-aligned hackers used AI agents to move through the ConnectWise breach faster than any human team could manage, compromising downstream customers at alarming scale. This isn't about whether AI makes hacking possible, it's about speed, patience, and operating at scale no human crew ever could.
